Who We Are

Since 1993, the Greater Louisville Alliance of Black School Educators (GLABSE) has worked to advance educational equity by supporting the success of Black students and the leadership of Black educators. We do this by strengthening school systems, building community partnerships, and advocating for policies that close opportunity gaps. Through our programs, events, and advocacy efforts, we promote culturally responsive practices, elevate Black voices in education, and create spaces where both students and educators can thrive.

About the President

Apryl Clark, Ed.D.

Dr. Apryl Clark combines a strong background in science and public health with deep expertise in education and equity. After earning her degree from Kentucky State University and starting her career in epidemiology, she transitioned to teaching science out of a passion for student success. She later earned a doctorate from the University of Kentucky, where her research focused on building collaborative communities among educators.

In her professional role, Dr. Clark helps schools develop fair and effective approaches to student behavior that support positive learning environments and reduce disparities. As president of GLABSE and a proud parent of a Jefferson County Public Schools graduate, she brings both professional expertise and personal commitment to advancing equitable opportunities and nurturing supportive communities for Black students and educators.
